Your Zodiac Sign

The Sun Sign, or what is commonly known as the Zodiac Sign, is the sign in the Zodiac in which the sun was in when you were born. Your Zodiac Sign is the energy that fuels you.

The further you get into Astrology, you will see that your Sun Sign is only one aspect of your whole personality. The Sun Sign is so important though, because it encompasses your ego. Your Sun Sign is what you want, your goals, your actions, and your true identity.

The Sun goes through each of the 12 Zodiac Signs once a year for a one month duration.

You will often see your horoscope based off your birthday when you flip through a magazine, or these days through your Instagram feed, and these horoscopes are largely based on the Sun shining it’s light on each of the 12 personality types.

In Advanced Astrology, you can also learn more about the planets or luminary that rules your Zodiac Sign, and which house your Zodiac Sign falls inside your Natal Chart. Don’t let all of these terms throw you off- you can dive deep into your personal Astrology just by knowing your Sun Sign. Below you will see my interpretation of the 12 Zodiac Signs and their main characteristics.

Aries

The Self-Starter, The Leader of the Pack.

Dates: March 21 – April 19
Symbol: The Ram
Mode + Element: Cardinal Fire
Planet: Mars
1st House of Self-Discovery, Identity, & Personal Brand

Aries like to be first. Brave, active, spontaneous. Aries aren’t afraid to start new projects, but aren’t always great at completing them. Inspiration comes and goes so Aries are the best leader with a team to help carry out their plans.

They do not shy away from challenge nor confrontation, if necessary. Aries may even thrive on adrenaline high’s making them adventure junkies who love sky-diving, rock-climbing, and other outdoorsy adventures that give me extreme anxiety.

Taurus

Loves to luxuriate and revel in the finer things of life.

Dates: April 20 – May 20
Symbol: The Bull
Mode + Element: Fixed Earth
Planet: Venus
2nd House of Love, Money & Values

Loves to luxuriate and revel in the finer things of life. Taurus loves being rewarded and being given gifts.

Taurus love physical and material pleasures.

The value of these gifts is up to each person. Taurus is sensual and sexual. Taurus have a tendency to be all-around gluttonous, but they are grounded and often know what they want.

Taurus is all about value, desire and what exactly you place your value on. Taurus main concern is living in this comfort of having what they value.

Gemini

The Fast-Thinking Communicator.

Dates: May 21 – June 21
Symbol: The Twins
Mode + Element: Mutable Air
Planet: Mercury
3rd House of Social Networking

Geminis creative inspiration comes from their thoughts, ideas, and thirst for knowledge. I am a Gemini so I can ramble about this one all day long. Geminis are witty and quick on their feet, but this also allows for trouble focusing and mood swings.

Geminis love variety & new situations/people/settings/ideas/everything.

We Geminis love learning new subjects so it would be no big thing to find a Gemini taking French Lessons and an online Astrology course at the same time. (It’s Me, I’m the Gemini).

Cancer

The Emotional Home-Body.

Dates: June 21 – July 22
Symbol: The Crab
Mode + Element: Cardinal Water
Planet: The Moon
4th House of Home, Family & Security

Usually natural nurturers, Cancers are motherly and love to be surrounded by people they love or are comfortable with.

They love their home and making their home comfortable for their family. Cancers are empathetic and sensitive; tough on the outside and tender on the inside.

They shut down when they feel threatened (like a crab!). Cancers are in tune with their emotions, after all, their luminary ruler is the Moon. Cancers are good at making people feel comfortable.

Leo

Leo’s are the brightest, bravest sign of the Zodiac.

Dates: July 23 – August 22
Symbol: The Lion
Mode + Element: Fixed Fire
Planet: The Sun
5th House of Fun, Fame & Creativity

Leo’s are the brightest, bravest sign of the Zodiac. They aren’t afraid to shine like the sun, probably because Leo is ruled by the Sun!

Leos long to be recognized for their efforts. They clearly aren’t afraid to stand out in front of a crowd; Leo’s are natural stage performers. Fierce is one of the best words to use when describing a Leo.

They put their whole heart into whatever they do and are usually pretty good at the things they love the most.

Virgo

Virgos are analytical perfectionists, to put it bluntly.

Dates: August 23 – September 22 Symbol: The Virgin Mode + Element: Mutable Earth Planet: Mercury

6th House of Daily Routines, Responsibilities, Work & Health

They value logic, efficiency, order. Virgos don’t mind working behind the scenes, in fact they sometimes prefer it.

Because of their analytical minds, Virgos are usually intellectual, observant, and intelligent.

Virgos tend to be borderline (or full-on) perfectionists so they are overly negative, or at least pay too much attention to the negative, on occasion.

Libra

Libras are the sign of the scales, clearly meaning balance.

Dates: September 23 – October 22
Symbol: The Scales
Mode + Element: Cardinal Air
Planet: Venus
7th House of 1:1 & Intimate Relationships

All the Libras I know are extraordinarily level headed and balanced. Not only are Libras balanced themselves, but they are natural Peace Keepers. They seek harmony in most situations, even if it’s for their own inner peace.

Libras are great at cultivating beauty and they are often quite charming.

Libras have the wits about them to attain their goals. Libras are even the fashionable and good-looking sign of the Zodiac. Libras are giving, and sweet. They can tend to be a little bit self-fulfilling, though.

Scorpio

Scorpios have a reputation for being the harshest sign of the Zodiac.

Dates: October 23 – November 21
Symbol: The Scorpion
Mode + Element: Fixed Water
Planet: Pluto & Mars
8th House of Transformation, Business, & Intimacy

While I guess that is up to the individual, Scorpios are intimate, empathetic, and often times ruled by darker emotions. Scorpios love to probe for the truth and are likely always on a quest of transformation. Scorpios are sometimes marked
by big changes or dramatic life events. Scorpios are definitely the mysterious of the bunch.

Sagittarius

Sagittarius is the sign of grown and expansion.

Dates: November 22 – December 21
Symbol: The Archer (The Centaur)
Mode + Element: Mutable Fire
Planet: Jupiter
9th House of Travel & Higher Education

Growing & expanding in knowledge, explorations, healings. Sagittarius looks at the outward reality and looks for the meaning in it.

These people long to follow their passion and seek to learn just about everything that sparks their interest.

They are ruled by the same chatty Mercury as Gemini, so they love to learn and share. Sagittarius absolutely loves the thrill of adventure.

Sag loves to follow their curiosity, so this makes them quite adaptable to change. They are enthusiastic and optimistic.

Capricorn

Capricorns are disciplined, practical planners.

Dates: December 21 – January 20
Symbol: The Sea-Goat
Mode + Element: Cardinal Earth
Planet: Saturn
10th House of Career & Legacy

They are the most practical, and hard-working sign of the Zodiac. Capricorns are rule-followers and trust me, I know it.

My sister, father, and son are all Capricorns and they are all massive RULE FOLLOWERS.

Capricorns really stay on top of their things, like their sign the Sea-Goat. They will just dig and dig and dig away at a goal until they get there.

Capricorns almost feel as if hard work is therapy.

Aquarius

Aquarius is the Revolutionary.

Dates: January 21 – February 18
Symbol: The Water Bearer
Mode + Element: Fixed Air
Planet: Saturn & Uranus
11th House of Community & Friendship

These people typically fight for social change because they are deeply invested in their community, or the people they care about.

Aquarius are often quirky people with off the wall, but innovative ideas and thoughts. These people value companionship, community, and forward-thinking. They love to ponder on how to make the world a better place and seek to find people with shared interests to implement these ideas.

An Aquarius is likely to get involved in their town politics or social events.

Pisces

Pisces is the final and, dare I say, flightiest, sign of the Zodiac.

Dates: February 19 – March 20
Symbol: The Two Fishes
Mode + Element: Mutable Water
Planet: Jupiter & Neptune
12th House of Spiritual Pursuits

I say they are flighty because they are dreamy, idealistic, and have a tendency to live in a parallel reality that isn’t quite the same as everyone else.

Pisces have a magical quality to them. They want to expand in so many ways, but also hide away.

Pisces are often spiritual or religious and have a desire to serve through compassion. Pisces planetary ruler is Neptune, known as The Great Dissolver. Neptune is known to give everything a dreamy glaze.
