Best Hotels in Downtown Denver

Downtown Denver has all kinds of hotel options from basic economy to luxury; and with an endless supply of outdoor activities throughout the entire state of Colorful Colorado, why not check out some of the things to do in Downtown Denver?

All my recommended options here are in downtown Denver, specifically Cherry Creek and Lower Downtown.

We stayed in Cherry Creek which is a bright, flower laden community neighboring Lower Downtown Denver.

There are so many food options in Denver that you don’t even need to leave this area of town, if you don’t want.

The sanitation measures and mask requirements in Denver were reassuring.

Masks are required to enter and exit all hotels and restaurants. Most require you to keep your mask on if you are away from you table or room. We didn’t have to wear a mask at the pool, or outside if we were socially distant. There was hand sanitizer in most hotels and restaurants.

All my hotel and “to-do” recommendations listed below are in the Cherry Creek or LoDo area and are easily walkable or fun to enjoy riding BIRD scooters. The side streets in Cherry Creek are so well manicured, many of them have tons of flowers in the front yards, so I was living in a daydream just taking it all in!

Tip: I recommend downloading the BIRD and Lyft apps and getting payment information setup beforehand.

4-Star Hotels in Denver

Halcyon –Cherry Creek – This is where we stayed, and we couldn’t have been more impressed. With free wine/beer upon arrival during happy hour, we checked out the chic décor and made our way to our room to drop the bags before we headed out.

A trip to the rooftop pool/bar is also necessary as you can see the mountains in the backdrop!

The Halcyon offers amazing restaurants onsite: Local Jones – American fare, Quality Italian, and the Elevated sky bar. The Halcyon had all the stops and an impressive cleanliness policy. Masks are required when out of our room or away from your dining table.

The Crawford Hotel – LoDo

The Brown Palace – LoDo – a Marriott hotel that was built in 1892 with an incredible atrium when you walk in and a skylight 8 stories high over the foyer. Check out my post on Denver Eats, I mention the Ship Tavern inside the hotel; and also La Loma which is right across the street.

The Maven Hotel – LoDo – located inside the Dairy Block, there are tons of cute shops and lots of restaurant/bar options nearby.

5-Star Hotels in Denver

Four Seasons Hotel Denver – LoDo – with a rooftop bar and luxurious rooms, this Four Seasons is on the list of ‘Hotels I Should Stay At.’

Honestly, you don’t have the shell out big bucks to get top-notch hotel accommodations in Denver. I looked into all the hotels on the list above for our trip, so I’d stay in any of these hotels myself.

Things to do in Downtown Denver

Hiking and doing things in the nature is great! You’re just a little out of the way when you’re camping out in downtown Denver. Not wanting to spend a bunch of time or money in Uber rides, we opted to stay around the area where we could walk or at least ride scooters and enjoy the scenery.

Denver Botanical Gardens

Coors Field

Cheesman Park – I swear the dog population is equivalent to the human population in Denver. Grab a spot in the park and people watch.

Denver Zoo

Denver Museum of Nature & Science

Topgolf – in Centennial – worth getting an Uber because you’ll still spend less money than buying 2 rounds of golf somewhere. If you go to Topgolf Centennial, you can enjoy the nearby Park Meadows shopping area, and a beer at Yardhouse.

What are your favorite things to do in downtown Denver? If you have a hotel that you prefer to stay at when you’re in Denver, or you’re on a staycation, drop it below so I can add it to my list for next time!
