Asian Ramen Salad

An Asian side salad so good it’ll become the main dish. What's funny, is my sister cannot cook with a DARN, and this is by far the most viewed post on my blog. Thanks, sis!

In fact, this is her signature dish. If we are instructed by our mother to bring a side dish, rest assured McKenzie is bringing this Asian Salad. None of us really care though, it’s that good.

The blend of flavors go well with so many different types of meat that you can serve this alongside just about anything you’ve got on the grill. Grilling burgers and hotdogs? Add this side salad! Pork chops? Yup. Filet mignon? Why wouldn’t you add this salad…..

My sister’s professional opinions on her tried & true recipe are as follows: you must make the marinade/dressing the day before, and this salad is best enjoyed if everything is tossed together (dressing included) 30 minutes prior to eating.

This lets the dry ramen soak in some moisture so they’re the perfect crunch.

My sister also recommends using Oriental Flavored Ramen Noodles, but apparently these are pretty hard to find, and may be called Soy Sauce flavor now.

I bet it’d be just fine with the Chicken Flavor.. maybe toss in a teaspoon of toasted sesame oil for some extra Umami if you can’t find Asian flavored instant ramen. You can find toasted sesame oil in Walmart with the oils. I add this to all kinds of things for a unique Asian flair. Add ¼ of a teaspoon to regular ramen noodles to elevate your package of noodle that cost less than 50 cents.
